My First Blog--Oklahoma City
July 23rd, 2009 4:12 PM

As a Realtor, I felt my first "blog" should be about the city I love. It's the place I'm selling and promoting everyday. Oklahoma City is the place of my birth. I've lived here and in Moore (just south of Okc) my entire life. I realize those of you who have lived in multiple states might find this a bit boring. Well, maybe it is. But I can't help but feel a certain amount of pride. I truly belong to this state, and it belongs to me.

When I was 16 years old, I worked at the Dillards in Crossroads Mall. I remember telling someone at work one day that I was definitely moving away after I graduated from High School. One of my main reasons, there was absolutely NOTHING to do in Oklahoma! If you've lived here more than 20 years, you have no doubt thought that in the past. When I was a teenager, the only thing going on in what is now Bricktown, was the Haunted Warehouse; and that was ONLY in the month of October! Our main form of entertainment was cruising 12th street in Moore or Air Depot in Midwest City.  Well, I didn't leave Oklahoma. I'm so glad I stayed.

Things have really changed. Twenty-five years ago, if you went to Downtown Okc after 6 pm, you would find a virtual ghost town. Now, it is THE place to be. Bricktown, located on the East side of Downtown, is a lively, exciting, fun place to go. It's where you take your out-of-town visitors to show off your city and state.  You can now find Triple-A baseball and NBA basketball. Bricktown also offers great restaurants, a movie theater and bowling. Sports bars also abound.  These are just a few of the places to go and things to do in just one part of our great state.

In the future, I plan to write about other great places and things to do in Oklahoma, especially the Oklahoma City metro area.  I will also write about Real Estate related topics. I'm really excited about the new residential properties going up in the Downtown area.  I'll save that for another day.  It's a great time to live in Oklahoma!!
